Venice Section of the International Dance Council: Cultural Diplomacy and Peacebuilding

The International Dance Council (CID) at UNESCO is the Official World Organization for Dance, founded as Official Partner Organization of UNESCO in 1973. It connects dance professionals through its permanent programmes and events for the promotion of dance with its members from over 170 countries. Its reach is above 200 countries.

Why Dance?

The Venice Section of CID was established by the CID protocol with a view to enriching the Organization’s global action of the with specific peacebuilding programmes, within the spectrum of Cultural Diplomacy. We bridge the gap between diplomats, international companies and other actors, and the cultures they encounter in the pursuit of their missions. We do so by disseminating intercultural awareness, providing advice and consulting services, organizing culture-driven initiatives for diplomatic objectives of mediation, conflict resolution, peacebuilding and peacekeeping. Constituent of our action is the development of protocols for the fair and conscious address of our clients’ international relations.

We develop our own international relations by liaising with relevant institutions, organizations and government agencies in the breadth of the worldwide scope of our Organization.
